I received an update and some pictures from John Hunter at Outback Model Company.

John wrote:
Our laser was installed and up and running and with just a few days before a model railroad exhibition. Laurie produced a couple of sample products for fellow exhibitors to try.

We sampled a small set of O scale chairs and table, a window that worked and some shingle sheets as well as a great little sanding tool that we will supply with our first kit. These samples were received with gusto and were a huge success. We also had on display two prototype models of which we must choose one for our first release, a tough choice as both are great looking structures. To throw into the mix as well Laurie is current working on a new design which just might just come out the winner. The other boxes are picked, as with material suppliers and packaging. The web site is slowly growing in size and modelers from all over the world are signing up to our members section. Read the rest of this entry »

New! Outback Model Company Australia

I just received an email from John Hunter of Outback Model Company. John has partnered up with Laurie Green to form this new craftsman kit manufacturer in Australia. John and Laurie are both very talented and accomplished modelers and have created some stunning work over the years.

John went on to say "Our web site is up and running, with a profile of Laurie and I, also some other areas all still under construction, with the first prototype model finished {built By Me} we are on track ,our laser cutter is in the country and will be delivered early Jan first to Laurie’s home for testing and correlation with his cad drawings and just to get him familiar with the operation , then the cutter will make the journey to me where production and packing will take place. We have designed and purchased our trade stand ,our uniforms are at the embroidery company and promotional flyers are being designed. Our online shop is not yet operational but set up, because we are not yet in production, we are currently waiting for our ABN number for tax purposes and we are planning some exiting stuff."

I will post any new information when it becomes available. These guys are true O scale craftsmen and it will be interesting to see what they will have to offer.

Vote for the “Most Inspirational Modeler for 2009″

Was your modeling influenced by someone this year 2009? Have you gained some new insight for your on30 modeling by any one particular modeler? Did someone show you a new technique that allowed you to take your modeling further? If you answered yes to any of these questions it was probably from one of the modelers recently nominated for "most inspirational modeler" for 2009. These modelers constantly go "above and beyond" to share their modeling projects and techniques with us all. I would like to acknowledge these modelers efforts by awarding the first annual On30 Insider's "Most inspirational modeler" award. It goes without saying that everyone is deserving of the award but, please take a moment and vote for the one person that most inspired you this year.
